Winter Park is a recreational hot spot. It stands to reason then that tourism is one of its highest source of revenue. With its proximity to Arapaho National Forest and the wilderness areas of Indian Peaks, Byers Peak and Vasquez, no matter what the season, out of towners are always visiting.

Tourism in the main source of industry in eastern Grand County (referred to as the Fraser Valley). It is also the most visible and touted, because of the superb snow conditions. There's alpine, cross country, snowboarding, tubing and a whole heck more. Like sleigh rides and ice skating and dog sledding. There're also top rate spas, shopping, restaurants and hot springs for those less recreationally inclined.

But with thousands of acres of land, both ranching and agriculture are the primary industry in western Grand County. Wide open spaces and, after all, this is the west you're talking about, means ranches and cowboys.

The population of Grand County Colorado is approximately 12,000 in the whole county, and is dispersed through the rural areas and its six incorporated towns. Primary access to the Fraser Valley is via Highway 40 over Berthoud Pass, which reaches an elevation of 11,315 feet.
