Lake Granby is located in the Arapaho National Recreation Area, which contains five lakes and reservoirs at the upper end of the Colorado River Valley. The reservoirs were built for the purpose of providing water from the west slope to the cities on Colorado's east slope.

Lake Granby is also well known for its vast number of recreational facilities. It has more than 250 campsites and 3 boat-launch ramps.

The lake often gets stocked with rainbow trout, brown trout, and Kokanee salmon. It also has a large population of lake trout. You can see how fishing on Lake Granby is a dream for anyone who loves the great outdoors.
