Phoenix Gold Mine

The Phoenix Gold Mine is located in Clear Creek County, in the famous Trail Creek Mining District. The mine sits at an elevation of 8,200 feet above sea level.

The Phoenix Gold Mine is a real working gold mine, and was even featured on the Discovery Channel. The Phoenix Gold Mine has an important place in history. It was first discovered in 1871, but today you can still pan in the stream and see what it's like to search for gold. Afterwards, relax and enjoy a picnic lunch or take a mountain hike. There are plenty of picnic tables available for those wanting to stick around and have lunch on the site. Take the day and enjoy the Colorado mountains, tour the mine, pan for gold, and just have some fun. The mine supplies all gold pans, so you don't have to worry about anything.

The mine has even been featured in a film by John Sayles, who filmed the mining part of his movie Silver City at the Phoenix Gold Mine. However, why watch the mine in a movie when you can see it live and in person?
