Shadow Mountain Dam and Reservoir, and the Colorado-Big Thompson Project are located on the Colorado River before it joins with Grand Lake. The area has 1 campground with 80 campsites and 2 boat-launch ramps.
Shadow Mountain Lake provides a wide array of recreational activities for the whole family to enjoy. The most popular opportunities for recreation include camping, fishing, and power boating. The main sporting fish are brown trout, rainbow trout, and salmon. You should have no problem finding something fun to do once you get here!
Hiking trails and boat launches designed with families in mind operate along Lake Granby and Shadow Mountain Lake. They make up part of the Arapaho National Recreation Area, and make it easy to enjoy the natural beauty of the area, as well as create lasting memories you can cherish for a lifetime.
This area is also very popular in the summer for mountain bikers. Untouched wilderness areas can be found at higher elevations connecting all the way from central Colorado to the Wyoming border.
