Alpina-Madshus Stampede First weekend of March. If you are a cross-country ski enthusiast, you'll love the Alpina-Madshus Cross Country Ski Stampede. The Alpina-Madshus Stampede is nordic ski race and is part of the Colorado Cup.

Overview: The Alpina-Madshus Cross Country Ski Stampede is part of the Colorado Cup, a series of 9 cumulatively scored races . The Colorado Cup is intended to be scored similarly to alpine skiing's World Cup, allowing everyone to get the most out of each race by thoroughly developing junior skiers as well as experts.
Where: The Alpina-Madshus Cross Country Ski Stampede is located at the YMCA of the Rockies / Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Center, just 12 miles from Winter Park.
When: This event takes place the first weekend of March
Cost: There is an entry fee per participant. Fees vary by age.
Details: You can register for the 42km or 21km skate/classic races, or the 10km freestyle "mini stampede." Even the kids can get involved with the 2km children's race. For those with a competitive spirit, there is a large cash prize for the first male and female skiers in the 42km race.
