Granby Sled Dog Classic

The Granby Sled Dog Classic, or Grand Classic as it is sometimes called, is a 2 day event usually taking place in the middle of February. While it is a very popular event with locals, these races also attract visitors from all over due to Granby's central location.

The Granby Sled Dog Classic is the only race in Colorado that is accredited by the US Sled Dog Foundation, a group currently seeking Olympic approval. The races are divided by sanctioned classes, such as purebred 4 or 6 dog sleds. There is also a non sanctioned 6 dog mid-distance class and a 10 dog mid-distance class, each competing in 15 mile races. Spectators will be impressed by the wide variety of races and easy access to the adorable sled dogs. The Granby Sled Dog Classic is usually held at the Grand Elk Ranch and Club, across Highway 40, but double check since the venue can change depending on snow conditions in the area.

It looks like you may have missed it this time around.
