  • Colorado Ski Country has designated Granby Ranch as a GEM ski resort, citing its reasonable prices, short lift lines, off-the-grid location and family-friendly atmosphere.  Only nine resorts in Colorado have this distinction.
  • Unique attributes include a cross-country trail system at the summit, and night skiing/tubing are offered every Saturday.

Overview

Granby Ranch is considered a GEM by Colorado Ski Country; this designation puts SolVista on the map with eight other resorts that are considered the state's best hidden treasures due to shorter lift lines, reasonable prices, a family-friendly undercurrent, and smaller crowds due to its off-the-grid location.

Mountain Details

Their trail system consists of thirty-seven slopes broken into the following: 50% intermediate, 30% beginner and 20% advanced. These trails are extended over two interconnected mountains, covering 406 acres, all filtering down to the same base, which is partly why it received its 'family-friendly' designation. The East Mountain (elevation: 9,202 ft) is geared more for beginners and intermediate skiers and riders, whereas the West Mountain (elevation: 9,166 ft.) offers more challenging terrain. There are four lifts: two quads, one triple chair, one double chair, and one surface lift. A Half-Pipe is available for those adventurous skiers/riders and nordic trails branch out from the summit for cross-country skiers and snowshoers.

Mountain Services

Three dining options exist within its Base Camp Lodge (elevation: 8,202 ft), with the Seven Trails Grille, the dining hall/cafeteria and the Higher Grounds Coffee Shop. An outside patio area with a fire pit sits right outside the lodge for guests to relax, eat and overlook the slopes. A rental/retail shop offers all types of ski and board rentals, along with helmets, poles, and boots. They also have a renowned ski school, which is known for their direct-to-parallel instruction.

A free Snow Play Park and Kid's Sledding Area is adjacent to the outdoor patio, and every Saturday night from 5 - 8 p.m., they offer night skiing and tubing.
