As there is rapidly rising high terrain to the east of the airport, most pilots come over the pass and spiral down in an area south of the airport. Take offs and landings are preferred on Runway 27 and taking off toward the east is recommended for experienced pilots only. Note a small land feature located to the southeast of the runway.
