Backcountry Skiing

Winter Park Mountain offers everything from terrific backcountry skiing to groomed trails for beginners to steeps and bumps for the expert. Skiing Magazine ranks Mary Jane, the wilder side of the mountain, #1 in bumps while Vasquez Cirque takes riders above tree line to steep pitches and untouched powder. On the other hand, Winter Park's alter-ego, Mary Jane, is less welcoming, especially for beginners. Mary Jane is an advanced-intermediate and expert skier's paradise, with 78% of its terrain advanced or expert. It's rarely crowded and contains acres of lonely glades and steeps. Not for the timid, Mary Jane is perhaps Colorado's best-kept secret.

Winter Park Resort is one of the largest and most frequently visited ski resorts in the United States. It is also the closest major resort to Denver, just 90 minutes from downtown. Winter Park is family-friendly and affordable, which is why year after year the resort proudly reclaims its title as "Colorado's Favorite."

Telemark ski rentals are available at convenient locations at the base of Winter Park Mountain.
